Just the 7 days to cover in this note. Busy busy busy week with a lot on my mind.
7 days.
6 runs.
Total of 33.5 km ran. Average of 5.6 km per run. Daily average of 4.8 km.
Steady going.
For the month so far that’s 59.5 km, just another 40.5 km to reach 100km for the month, 12 days left.
There was no real consistency in the time of day I went running:
- 1 early morning (before 9am): Thursday
- 1 later in the morning (between 9am and noon): Saturday
- 1 around lunchtime (between noon and 2pm): Tuesday
- 2 in the afternoon (between 2pm and 5pm): Wednesday and Friday
- 1 in the evening (after 5pm): Monday
Going for a run on Friday afternoon had a negative effect on running on Saturday morning. My legs were really tight for the park run. Might have been best to rest on Friday and up my effort on Saturday.
Routes: 2 runs I went east along the canal from home, 3 days I went west along the canal towards Bingley, the sixth day I ran in Keighley at Cliffe Castle park run. Trying some park run tourism this year. Three laps with a zig-zaggy hill on the route. My legs. I’ve been planning some more hill work but not quite so much so soon. Time was OK I guess (27 minutes…). Still, did it.
I mixed up the running shoes this week. Monday was still icy so played it safe with the New Balance Hierros, have some OK grip in icier conditions. Gave debuts to the Adidas Boston 12s and Asics Novablast 5s. I very much like the Novablasts. Soft enough, springy enough. On Thursday I gave the old Hoka Mach 5s a go, they’ve a good 500km on them, the soles felt so lifeless. They’ve been retired. Thanks for your support trusted Machs 5s.
I am off to Brussels in the middle of February so I looked at running options in the city centre.
A decent week of running though.
Upcoming week targets:
- I am on an early train on Thursday so that automatically is my rest day for the week.
- We’re planning a day around the Lakes on Saturday (and the Town game at Barrow ho ho ho) so Saturday might be a rest day too. Or it might be a chance for a Saturday run that way, fingers crossed.
- 30 km over 5 days then. 6 km a run. Sure.
- That’ll nudge me to 89 km for the month so far. And another 5 days to go after that.
